i am pretty excited for my friends new release of the cd that she has been working on forever. she is releasing a new single every friday (including today with "whiter straighter) for the next 5 fridays. this first one "whiter straighter" sounds so so good. i am loving the horns. im not sure if these other songs on this link are going on the album but they are pretty good too. Adaline on sonicbids.com http://www.sonicbids.com/epk/epk.asp?epk_id=101162 here is a great idea. i thought of this a while back and it took me a long time to try it out but now i love the stuff. buy your favorite brand of root beer. really good root beer is kind of hard to find. barqs, a&w, hires... etc are all too sweet for me. safeway's parkers brand root beer is the best i've ever found. there isnt a safeway around elkford for miles. i think the nearest is lethbridge. so while you're there, pick me up some parkers root beer and some ouzo or sambuca. if you want to make it a really strong drink, go ahead and add some dark rum. this is so good. ouzo and sambuca are from italy or greece and they taste like anise (black licorice) this goes with root beer like a son of a gun.
sambuca and ouzo are both clear and when mixed with clear water turn milky white. its really kinda cool to watch.
try mixing them with cola. i bet thats good too, and because they are both so sweet they also work excellently to sweeten your coffee.
ps. saparilla is like root beer. ok i have decided that i really like having a shot of kahlua in a large glass of milk. i would say that i like it almost as much as a glass of chocolate milk (if not more). BUT, i have finished our bottle of kahlua so what do i do? well we happen to have some chai mix. it is a liquid in a carton just like a carton of juice. so here is the drink that i have come up with: i shot of spiced rum, 4-5 shots of chia mix and fill the rest of a large glass with milk. now if you like, you can throw in a dash of cocoa and a tiny splash of vanilla. mix it up with whatever you like. we have a tiny whisker/frother from ikea and that works really well. this is a really tasty drink. and, you can throw a dollup of whipped cream on the top if you want to make it a bonified girly drink ok i love coffee. i love to make really really good coffee. you need a french press. you grind (or crushing is better) your fresh coffee beans yourself. put it in your french press (bod-um. 10 bucks at ikea)) and pour boiling water over it.the key really is the perfect grind. if you grind it too fine it will be bitter, too course will be weak. this coffee is soo good that you will drink it all yourself, and regret giving any to anyone else. but by the slim chance that there is some left over... wait till it gets cold and mix it with half a tall glass of chocolate milk, or if you have Kahlua mix it with milk and Kahlua. soo soo good. and perky. | Category: | Movies | | Genre: | Independent |
i remember seeing this crappy movie cover and thinking that it looks stupid. yes i judge movies by their covers. that and by word of mouth. this movie was very good. it was just what i was looking for. no it wasn't full of action, yes it was dry, in fact it was very dry and action-less, but at least it wasn't as silly as the cover. this cover is the worst representaion of a movie i have ever seen. i don't like to say much about the movie itself, as i don't really like to know much about a film before i see it. if you like "goodbye lenin" you should love this. it is much easier to watch and not nearly as slow. i would say it is a bit like "broken flowers". i loved that movie too. | Category: | Movies | | Genre: | Animation |
this movie was great. those of you that have seen a miyazaki film, would be interested to know that this was his first film and was just recently released in canada (april). it was really great. not nearly as fantastical as the rest of myazaki's films, it was packed with adventure, and a good story. i am a bit of a Hayao Miyazaki (japanimation director extradonaire) fanatic, and i intend to see all the films that he has put out. | Category: | Movies | | Genre: | Animation |
after i ran out of movies that i knew that i wanted to see, i went through other peoples lists of movies that they liked/ gave a good rating to. i could deffinitely see why someone liked this one. it had some really funny parts, but i couldn't finish it. i am not sure what this movie lacked, but it just couldn't capture my interest. maybe it was the fact that it is about giggly drama-queen highschool girls. | Category: | Movies | | Genre: | Foreign |
so i gave erin's suggestion a try. (she's so influential- i think i'll quit my job next). the first three movie came in the mail the other day. of course they send the ones i either didn't badly want to see... or i couldn't remember asking for them. so in hindsight... don't put movies on your list that you wouldn't be excited to see. the first three i got are- "azumanga daioh" (japanime), castle of "caglioto" (same), and "creep" (foreign horror flick). i am determined to review each movie that i get. | Category: | Movies | | Genre: | Science Fiction & Fantasy |
oh boy. i laughed, i scoffed, i cryed, i was startled. i really enjoyed this movie. i live in the world of fantasy alot of the time. that comes from growing up on an acreage and spending alot of time alone dreaming, and imagining. i like movies that you can learn something from, i am not sure that this was one of those movies but it felt like one.
