so weird. a snowboarding coin? canada is putting out a snowboarding coin. i feel like an old man, saying "i remember when snowboarding wasn't cool". it seemed like everyone hated us. especially the authorities. do they still ban snowboarding at whistler? or was it blackcomb? the snowboarders werent good enough or respectable to be allowed at the resort. now canada thinks that we're cool enough that they make a coin depicting snowboarding? i guess its all about hype. so bizarre.
well and the fact that soooooo many people snowboard now instead of ski. snowboarding seems to have less and less to do with it wild roots & relations to the skateboarding culture.
yeah it has changed so much. i have heard that older peoples (like 60+) prefer to learn snowboarding to skiing because it is supposedly easier on the knees. its amazing how views change. i think its a perfect example of how people treat new things and/or cultures. they dont understand and fear new things and/or cultures (ie. early snowboarding/sowboarders)... and later in time, how things can vastly change once they understand and thus no longer fear the unknown (ie. todays snowboard culture)
so this story went from mildly interesting to slightly more interesting... Canada has descided to mint a silver, 25 dollar, holographic, coin with a dude snowboarding on it. yes 25 bucks for a 4 centimeter coin. it even says (next to the holographic dealy) "25 dollars" on it.
